About
Harry has been playing guitar since the age of 7 and has built up a wide range of experience both as a performer and as a developing musician. Now aged 14, he regularly performs on stage at venues across Hampshire and is a familiar face at local open mic nights, where he plays a mix of rock, blues, metal and modern guitar music.
Harry is currently playing at Grade 8 level, with a strong technical foundation and a particular interest in lead guitar, rhythm playing and contemporary rock styles. His musical influences range widely and include artists such as Prince, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, Marty Friedman (Megadeth), Eric Clapton, Tim Henson (Polyphia) and Eric Johnson. This variety shapes both his playing style and the way he approaches teaching, helping students explore different techniques and genres rather than sticking to just one style.
Lessons are taught in a relaxed, supportive way and are suitable for beginners through to more advanced players. Harry teaches alongside the RSL / Rockschool syllabus, which provides a structured path for students who wish to work towards graded exams. Students who choose to follow the grade route will need to purchase the appropriate Rockschool book for their level, which will be used as the main learning resource alongside additional exercises and songs chosen to match their interests.
As a young teacher himself, Harry is particularly good at explaining ideas in a clear and relatable way for children and teenagers, while still keeping lessons engaging for adults who are new to the guitar. His aim is to help students build confidence, develop good technique, and most importantly, enjoy playing music.
Motivation
Seeing a young guitarist play can be a powerful source of motivation. Harry started learning guitar at the age of 7 and has developed his skills through regular practice and a genuine love of music. For many children, this makes learning guitar feel more achievable and encourages them to believe in their own progress.
